An empty or damaged extinguisher won’t work when you need it. Also look out for rust, dents, a damaged hose and an intact safety pin, and make sure the extinguisher stays easy to reach. This check of your own doesn’t replace an inspection by an approved company.

2. Check for visible damage, rust or a damaged hose
3. Check that the safety pin and seal are still intact
4. Make sure the extinguisher stays easy to reach
