How often should you mop the floor?
Mop a vinyl, tiled or stone floor once a week. A wooden or parquet floor is better mopped every 2 to 4 weeks.
Caked-on dirt and stains wear down the floor finish faster. HG recommends mopping a vinyl floor once a week, but warns that mopping too often can make a wooden floor swell; vacuum or sweep in between. A kitchen or hallway with lots of foot traffic can be done more often, a bedroom less.
- Vacuum or sweep away loose dirt first
- Mix cleaning product according to the label
- Mop in strips, starting away from the door
- Let it dry before walking on it again
20 to 40 minutes.
- mop or mop system
- neutral floor cleaner
- bucket
