How often should you have your car serviced?
Have your car serviced once a year, or sooner if you reach your manufacturer’s mileage interval (often 15,000 to 30,000 km).
Renault’s guideline is every 12 months or every 15,000 to 30,000 km, whichever comes first. Insurer P&V advises: if you drive less than 15,000 km a year, have a service done every year. Overdue maintenance increases the risk of breakdowns and wear on safety parts such as brakes.
- Plan the service according to the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule (mileage or time)
- Tell the garage in advance about any faults or noises
- Have the oil, filters and safety parts checked
- Keep the proof of service in the service book
