How often should you check your outdoor lighting?

Check your outdoor lighting every 6 months, for example in spring and autumn. Once a year, also inspect the wiring for damage.

Outdoor lights that don’t work make your driveway, garden or carport less visible and less safe. Hubo recommends cleaning the small panels of solar lights at least twice a year and checking the wiring every year; solar light batteries last about 2 to 3 years. Test everything as it gets dark.

1. Test all outdoor lights as it gets dark
2. Replace broken bulbs or batteries (for solar/sensor lights)
3. Clean dust and cobwebs off the lamp covers
4. Check that sensors respond correctly

10 to 20 minutes.
