How often should you prepare and sow your veg garden?
Once a year, in spring: get your vegetable garden ready in March and sow or plant in March and April, following the sowing calendar.
Sowing too early or too late lowers the germination rate and the harvest. Velt’s vegetable garden calendar removes the ground cover in early March and lists radishes, peas, lettuce and potatoes, among others, for March and April. Don’t sow fine seeds too deep and cover them against late night frost.
- Remove weeds and old plant remains from the bed
- Work compost into the soil
- Sow or plant according to the sowing calendar on the seed packet
- Water and cover against late night frost if needed
2 to 4 hours.
