How often should you clean your ventilation filters?

Clean or replace the filters of your mechanical ventilation (system C or D) at least once a year.

A dirty filter lets less air through, so you ventilate less well and the risk of damp and mould goes up. Zehnder recommends replacing more often, every 3 to 6 months, during the first months in a new-build home or when the display shows a message. If you live somewhere dusty or have pets, do it more often too.

1. Switch the ventilation system off or to standby
2. Open the unit or the intake grille according to the manual
3. Vacuum or wash the filter, or replace it if disposable
4. Put it back and switch the system on again

15 to 25 minutes.
