How often should you compare your energy contract?
Compare your energy contract once a year, ideally a few weeks before your contract’s expiry date.
Rates and offers change all the time, and people who stay on the same contract for years often pay too much. The Gezinsbond writes that you can save a lot by choosing carefully again every year. Use the consumption on your annual bill as the basis for your comparison.
- Take your consumption and current rates from your annual bill
- Compare with current offers using an independent comparison tool
- Work out whether switching is really cheaper
- Cancel or switch in time if you want to
