How often should you test your aquarium water?

Test the pH, nitrite and nitrate in your aquarium at least every 2 weeks. zooplus even recommends every week.

Without measuring, you often only notice abnormal values when your fish are already ill. Weekly is the source’s advice; every two weeks is a practical estimate for an aquarium that has been running stably for a long time. Write down your values so you can spot trends.

2. Test pH, nitrite and nitrate (and KH/GH if relevant)
3. Write down the values so you can follow trends
4. Take action (water change, feed less) if values are off
