How often should you empty your dryer’s lint filter?
Empty your tumble dryer’s lint filter after every drying cycle, and in any case at least once a week.
A clogged filter restricts the airflow. Drying takes longer, you use more energy and the fire risk goes up. Rinse the filter with water now and then to remove detergent or fabric softener residue.
- Pull out the lint filter after drying
- Remove the built-up lint by hand
- Rinse the filter periodically with water to remove soap/softener residue
- Let it dry and put it back for the next cycle
