How often should you mow the lawn?
Mow your lawn once a week in the growing season (spring and summer). In the peak months of May, June and September, mow twice a week.
Grass that’s too long falls over and smothers itself, and an irregularly mown lawn loses ground to weeds. Hubo says mow weekly in March, April, July, August and October; in winter, mowing isn’t needed. In dry spells, mow less often.
- Check that the grass is dry enough to mow
- Set the cutting height (not too short in summer)
- Mow in strips for an even result
- Clear the clippings or leave a thin layer as mulch
30 to 60 minutes.
