How often should you winterise your outdoor tap?
Once a year, in autumn: shut off your outdoor tap and let it drain, at the latest when it starts to freeze.
Water that freezes in a tap or hose can burst pipes. Close the indoor stop valve, let the remaining water drain out and store the garden hose empty.
- Close the indoor stop valve of the outdoor tap
- Open the outdoor tap to let the remaining water drain
- Store the garden hose empty and dry
- Optionally cover the tap with an insulating cover
