How often should you prune roses?
Lightly prune repeat-flowering shrub roses every year at the end of winter, in February or March. Prune roses that flower once after flowering, in late summer.
According to the RHS, mature shrub roses need a light renewal prune every winter. You remove old, dead and weak stems to make room for young shoots. Climbers and ramblers follow their own schedule.
